pommes allumettes with tarragon mayonnaise, beef and greens // pommes allumettes mit estragon majonnaise und salat
mhhhh … fantastic! a good piece of tender beef, medium raw. crunchy and fresh lettuces directly from the garden to the table. fully flavored homemade tarragon mayonnaise and self-made extra thin pommes allumettes made out of our own potatoes. tastes extraordinary good and feels great, especially on one of the last warm days sitting under the cherry trees. fresh greens, bell pepper and grated cheese à la ottolenghi // kräuter&grünes, paprika und geriebener käse
one more time this fabulous salad is one of the great ottolenghi creations i adore so much. as the garden and the fridge do not always allow to cook original recipes line by line, i made some adaptions. but this was without any damage to the ottolenghi creation i guess. but see yourself. harvesting bell pepper // paprikaernte
i read a funny thing on the blog goodthingsgrow today. the garden actually does not care about the fact that september and october will be the beginning of autumn and everybody starts talking about pumpkin recipes and comfort food. the garden still offers summer stuff like tomatoes, fennel, blackberries and also bell pepper. blackberry ice cream and homemade ice cream cones // brombeereis mit selbstgemachten eiswaffeln (stanitzel)
this describes my summer. every day we spend in the garden i ran absolutely excited to the blackberries to see if some more of them turned dark violet and sweet. and they did, every other day a few more. i only had to be quicker than the birds, the ants and … the child. the latter was the most competitive eater. i could only divert his attention with some raspberries and other delicious things. Continue reading
sowing, growing and harvesting: carrots
in the case of carrots we are simply lucky, i guess. the soil of our garden seems to fit perfectly the carrot´s needs. the carrots are nice looking year for year and this year without maggots, carrot flies or others. so we have more carrots than we can eat and i already ordered a new juicer … Continue reading
super quick curd ice cream and fresh blackberries // superschnelle quarkeiscreme und frische brombeeren
if you have only a few blackberries this is the perfect idea to transform them in something big. the ice cream has a very subtle flavor of curd and will perfectly support the sweet fruity and a little bit sour blackberries. Continue reading
turnips with aneth and italian sausage // rüben mit dill und italienische würstchen
sweet, earthy, hearty – this describes this composition of turnips, aneth and italian sausages. the turnips already have a sweet and earthy flavor and the aneth somehow will even enhance this character. Continue reading
cook it with samba and saudade do brasil: bolinho de bacalhao
for me it was a question of honor to participate in the foodblog event cook it with samba about brazilian cuisine, because brazil and me, we have a kind of love affair. there are a few dishes that to me are related to brazil in a special way. but many of them you can’t cook easily in europe, due to the very diferent ingredients. and of cause there is my personal challenge to present on my blog only dishes i cooked with self-grown vegetables. but i found something feasible and very important for every good brasilian evening out: bolinhos de bacalhao!
