unfortunately we will have no own cucumbers this years. i don´t know why but it did not work out this year. but luckily my husbands aunt evi is a highly gifted gardener and brought, besides some courgettes, artichokes (!) and eggplants (!), many cucumbers. we met her in austria … and yes we travelled back with all these vegetables in our hand baggage. but they looked too appetizing not to cook with them at home. may i introduce you to prince albrecht of prussia. he is a very special apple tree. no, not because of his name but he was a present of my very best friend to our wedding. and the idea behind the present is absolutely lovely. when the tree will get bigger and bigger with all the years, maybe after having silver or golden wedding, we will get a round bench for that tree to sit in the shadow of this apple tree as old people. these cherries are a real wonder! when we found this place this tree was almost dead! i think the tree is very old and has not been trimmed for a very long time. in our first summer it had not one single cherry. but this year, after a radical cut, it was enough for us and the birds.
