in fact it is a kind of understatement to name this dish a fish soup, because it is a soup and a main course in one. you will cook your ingredients for the main course, fish, potatoes, carrots and courgette, in a broth and the delicious broth will become, due to some lemon juice, your soup. the flavor of lemon and oregano will add the very special summer day character. smorrebrod: the king of sandwich with evi´s cucumbers // könig der butterbrote mit evis gurken
unfortunately we will have no own cucumbers this years. i don´t know why but it did not work out this year. but luckily my husbands aunt evi is a highly gifted gardener and brought, besides some courgettes, artichokes (!) and eggplants (!), many cucumbers. we met her in austria … and yes we travelled back with all these vegetables in our hand baggage. but they looked too appetizing not to cook with them at home. apple harvest: prince albrecht of prussia // apfelernte: prinz albrecht von preussen
may i introduce you to prince albrecht of prussia. he is a very special apple tree. no, not because of his name but he was a present of my very best friend to our wedding. and the idea behind the present is absolutely lovely. when the tree will get bigger and bigger with all the years, maybe after having silver or golden wedding, we will get a round bench for that tree to sit in the shadow of this apple tree as old people. broad bean gazpacho // dicke bohnen gazpacho
one of the advantages of broad beans is that you won´t need many additional ingredients to have a good meal, because the broad beans are so delicious by themselves. and this gazpacho will be an example for that par excellence. Continue reading
double chocolate cake with sour cherries // doppelter schokoladenkuchen mit sauerkirschen
i don’t know many fruits which i like to combine with chocolate, but sour cherries are made for chocolate! this combination is heaven, i promise. a chocolate cake with hot chocolate topping should be mouthwatering for all sweet teeth out there. Continue reading
sour cherries and the wonder of fruit tree pruning // sauerkirschen und das wunder des baumrückschnitts
these cherries are a real wonder! when we found this place this tree was almost dead! i think the tree is very old and has not been trimmed for a very long time. in our first summer it had not one single cherry. but this year, after a radical cut, it was enough for us and the birds.
