unbelievable, it’s christmas time again. to be honest, i am still in a very autumnal mood with pumpkin, pears and apples, but if i like it or not we have the first sunday of advent. and as i try the whole year to cook and bake with ingredients we grow in the garden i will try to do some christmas sweets with fruits, herbs and maybe vegetables as well which you can still harvest or you canned during the year. tomato jam // tomatenmarmelade
tomato jam combined with some cracker and goats cheese fit perfectly as a starter or snack in between the meals. and in contrast to a chutney, the tomato is more mild and harmonious. and if you still have some tomatoes left which aren´t that perfect anymore, they will do a great job. autumn joys: collecting mushrooms

viennese apple strudel // wiener apfelstrudel
the best apple strudel i ever had, is the apple strudel of the man´s mom. and as she is viennese, i think her apple strudel could not be more original. i tried to reproduce everything exactly as i remember. but the greatest challenge of such traditional family recipes is that they never have been written down, everything is a bit vague and estimated. Continue reading
pear on wine and prune // rotweinbirne mit backpflaumen

sowing, growing, harvesting: fennel
